Changes since 3 September · Changes since the Commission proposal

The Commission shall submit to the European Parliament and the Council, no later than [12 months after the adoption of this Regulation], a report reviewing and assessing the use of privacy-enhancing technologies, including in relation to the storing of, or gaining access to information on terminal equipment, taking into account the state of the art, and with a view to provide incentives and legal certainty for service providers in deploying such technologies. Where appropriate, the Commission shall submit proposals to update the applicable legal framework, taking account of the results of that report, any sectoral developments and any other proposal it may deem necessary in order to improve the effectiveness of the rules on the storing of, or gaining access to information on terminal equipment.’
