Remove proposed wording Amendment 437 · Sophia Kircher IMCO
Article 88b
Justification

The objective of reducing consent fatigue is supported. However, this proposal raises concerns that require further consideration, including its potential impact on the media sector, the disproportionate effects it could have on SMEs by favouring larger market players, and the risk of creating new gatekeepers. It is also unclear why the proposal is limited to browsers. The proposal would benefit from substantial clarification and a clearer specification of how it is intended to operate in practice, including with regard to the requested standardisation process and the practical implementation of any resulting standards.
